Hello and welcome to The Moving Curve. I’m Rukmini, a data journalist based in Chennai. Every night on this mini-cast, I consider one question around the novel coronavirus epidemic in India. Tonight I’m considering this one: what can India learn from South Korea’s second wave?

A terrific Reuters graphic on the Shincheonji cluster: https://graphics.reuters.com/CHINA-HEALTH-SOUTHKOREA-CLUSTERS/0100B5G33SB/index.html

A little about Korea’s testing: https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2020/03/13/815441078/south-koreas-drive-through-testing-for-coronavirus-is-fast-and-free

Local media report about contact tracing after the nightclub cluster: http://english.hani.co.kr/arti/english_edition/e_national/946378.html

Not being homophobic or Islamophobic shouldn’t need any additional imperative besides the basic human one, but right now, it is also a public health imperative. The pandemic is destroying so much — families, communities, livelihoods. It would be a tragedy if it further destroyed the social fabric too.

Thank you for listening. This episode was edited by Anand Krishnamoorthi. Tomorrow — a new question.
